When GEORGE Met BOB: Ironsite Is MCAA's First AI-Centered Cornerstone Partner

Words: Dan Kamys

Earlier this year at World of Concrete, I taught the AI Test Drive class and gave attendees an early look at GEORGE 3.0, which we're set to release later this year. As I was wrapping up the session and people were still asking questions, the team from Ironsite came up and introduced themselves. That conversation kicked off about four months of follow-ups. The result is that Ironsite has signed on as MCAA's first AI-centered Cornerstone partner.

For those who haven't come across them yet, Ironsite is a vision-based AI platform built on a pretty straightforward idea: the person doing the work is the best source of truth. They will equip the workforce with smart hard hats embedded with cameras. Their AI takes that footage and turns it into useful information for project managers, like where the crew is, what got installed today, what is slowing down the wall, and where there might be a safety concern. Foremen have always carried a lot of this in their heads. The system makes that information shareable and the decisions on the jobsite easier to back up.

I'll be honest, signing a Cornerstone partner is not something we do lightly, and signing the first AI-centered one was something I wanted to make sure we got right. We talked with Ironsite over four months, asked a lot of questions, and let them ask plenty in return. By the time both sides got to yes, we knew exactly why.

It came down to our shared values. Ironsite believes AI tools should empower the workforce, not replace it. Their goal isn't to monitor people. It's to give workers and managers better information so they can do their jobs more safely and efficiently. That belief is what built GEORGE, and it's what grounds MASONRY STRONG. Technology earns its place in our trade when it helps the people doing the work stay safer and get more out of their day.

Cornerstone is the tier of the Masonry Alliance Program reserved for partners who really want to immerse themselves in the industry and its people. Ironsite fits the bill. They came in with a clear product, a serious labor-data thesis, and a willingness to learn the trade from the people who know it. They asked smart questions and were genuinely curious about what works in masonry and what doesn't. That goes a long way with us. It also helped that they're about to run field tests with Chris Pappas and the team at Telligent Masonry. Chris is an MCAA member, our Region A Vice President, and someone whose judgment we trust. Knowing Ironsite had already earned his confidence carried real weight.

There is a lot to look forward to in the years ahead. They have a Hands-On Speed Dating spot at our Midyear Meeting in San Antonio this September, where members can learn more about the team and technology.

I've spent the better part of a decade at the MCAA watching new tools come and go. The ones that last are the ones that respect the worker and make the day-to-day a little better. Ironsite is built that way, and I'm glad to have them as our first AI-centered Cornerstone Partner among all the companies in the program.

I'm excited to see what GEORGE and Ironsite might build together.
